VOWEL MOVEMENT

Definitely not a rip-off of a beloved Channel 4 show

Play Letters & Numbers with Friends

// How to Play

Letter Rounds

Pick 9 letters, choosing between consonants and vowels (at least 3 of each). Race the clock to make the longest word. Using all 9 scores double.

Number Rounds

Pick 6 numbers from large (25, 50, 75, 100) and small (1–10). Hit the random target with +, −, ×, ÷. Exact = 10pts, close gets partial credit.

Conundrum

The final round: a scrambled 9-letter word. Race to unscramble it before anyone else. First correct buzz wins 10 points.

Multiplayer

Play with up to 6 mates, or add bots if you're a billy no mates. Free, no sign-up, no faff. Create a room, share the code, and play up to 6 rounds. Watch back every game with full replays.

Any resemblance to a long-running Channel 4 quiz show is purely coincidental.

What is this?

A free multiplayer take on the classic letters-and-numbers TV format. Pick consonants and vowels, build the longest word you can, race the clock through number puzzles. No app, no signup, just a browser.

Want a countdown-style game you can actually play online with friends? Make a room, share the six-letter code, you're in. Two to six players, configurable rounds, an optional conundrum finale, plus a Cats mode for heckles and chaos. Every finished game saves a replay so you can watch back every player's screen with speed controls.

Going solo? The daily challenges sit there waiting: today's conundrum to unscramble, a numbers target to hit, or Word Rush, where you find as many words as you can in 60 seconds. No room code, no friends needed.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vowel Movement really free?

Yes. No signup, no ads, no in-app purchases. Every mode and daily puzzle is free, and scores save locally in your browser.

How many players can join a game?

Two to six per room. Empty seats can be filled with AI bots at easy, medium, or hard difficulty.

Do players need to install anything?

No. It runs in any modern browser on desktop or mobile. Share the room link and friends are in.

What's the difference between Classic and Cats mode?

Classic is the straight letters-and-numbers game: letters, numbers, optional conundrum finale. Cats mode adds heckles, distraction GIFs, post-round roasts, and emoji reactions. Cats mode contains strong language and offensive humour.

Can I play solo?

Yes. Add bots to a multiplayer room, or head to the daily games for free solo puzzles that refresh every day.

How long does a game take?

Six rounds at a 30-second timer runs around 8 to 10 minutes. Round count and timer length are configurable in the lobby.
